Saw this on the sub. The NFL should not be supporting EA and the license is ruining the game. The franchise community has been done wrong for too long, MUT is just a p2w grind, gameplay is absolutely atrocious, and the game isn't how it was before. Mods plz don't remove this. #NoMoreMadden

I’m nearing the end of FOTF, how am I supposed to believe Tommy is having a great career when he isn’t on any rosters?

    Posted: 29 Aug 2020 09:36 PM PDT

In the first season, I didn't start behind Dak and they mentioned that overall Tommy had a better season. I then went through every team's depth chart to see which team drafted him, and he wasn't on any teams. Even before my last game, Coach O'Brien, our old college coach texted me saying "you might surpass Tommy" and I replied saying that "throughout my career Tommy has always been seen as superior". How am I supposed to believe this when 1. He's not even in the game, 2. I've literally become one of the greatest players of all time and 3. He isn't even on the legacy charts

Also, why does my player retire at 30 as an 8 year pro? He hasn't even played for 10 years and he's already retiring? It's not like he faced a crazy amount of injuries throughout the years

New career mode is legit. Just threw 7 TDs in the previous Superbowl. Better sign a kicker to compete at QB.

Face of the Franchise was either released in beta, or is seriously unfinished. (And it might be because of 2k)

    Posted: 30 Aug 2020 12:12 AM PDT

I've fully played through the Face of the Franchise mode in Madden 21. I've taken some time to think about everything and all the features in this game mode, and here's what leads me to believe there's a good chance they released it in beta :

    1. The game gets funky and seems to only follow one storyline. When you're in the deeper years of your franchise, the game doesn't seem to understand the past. I got to a Super Bowl in around my 4th or 5th season, and it was my second appearance, and in the divisional round Tommy Matthews messaged me something about "being 3 wins away from finally winning a championship" although I had been there and won once before.
    2. Every time you load back into your FotF, the game defaults your difficulty down to Rookie. (All of college and high school is set on Rookie and can't be changed). Especially in beta, where losing shouldn't be possible because I'd assume it would have less outcomes for losing, this could be an implemented feature for a beta version.
    3. TOMMY MATTHEWS DOESNT GO TO THE NFL BESIDES ALL THE CHARACTERS ALLUDING TO IT IN MENU MESSAGE POPUPS. Tommy literally says in a message before you make a Super Bowl that you're "trying to surpass his legacy", but he's never anywhere to be found. In the last cutscene (spoiler?) they call you both legends of the game and allude to your pro careers. Maybe he wasn't added yet.. because it's in beta?
    4. I know we all see this, but can we talk about those damn player models in the cutscenes? Players sway around inhumanely and jolt back into posture randomly, all while moving their lips to lines that aren't even voice acted. Seems seriously unfinished, and unpolished..
    5. When you "let fate decide" in the draft, as we all know, you go to the Bears. Everytime. I personally believe this is because EA didn't implement a randomizer, and without a randomizer it would default to the first alphabetical team, the Bears. Hinting towards it being in beta, because once again in beta there is a lot less needed options.
    6. Building off that, NO MATTER WHEN or HOW you get to the league, no matter how you perform in high school, college, or the combine, you go Round 1 Pick 10. EVEN AFTER YOUR COACH SAYS YOU WOULD BE LUCKY TO GO 3RD ROUND IF AT ALL if you declared prematurely. Once again, if this was made for beta, only one outcome would matter, so we get Bears (or chosen team) Round 1 Pick 10 everytime.
    7. Even when you get to the league, it seems to revolve around one division no matter where you go. The NFC North. From what I've seen, most of the time no matter where you go, some NFC North player either joins the rival team or joins your team. RBT on the Titans had Khalil Mack join his rival Texans randomly, and RBT added Allen Robinson to his team. When AR joined, he got a message from Khalil Mack saying something along the lines of "you got one of our guys now", although Khalil and AR have never touched Tennessee. I've seen a few other players, I got Tredavious White, but it seems like a lot of NFC North players. This means the game could still be running on the assumption that you're playing in the NFC North, as the Rivals storyline might only currently be programmed for that division (because the Bears are apparently the only team in football to EA).
    8. When you win or lose the first game of a season and you sim to the next moment, you're either like 8-0 or 1-7. No in between. While these records don't matter at all, because making the playoffs seems to hang solely on you winning your last played reg season game, this could show that they chose simple records, as they wouldn't matter in an earlier build of the game. (Although they don't really at all). It seems like you always go 16-0 or 4-12.
    9. Oh, and last but not least, you play in SUPER BOWL 54 in the first year of all Franchise modes.. if that's not a sign of an early build..
    10. There are millions upon millions of other downfalls in this game mode, so if I missed any please share.

Either way, I think when you sit down and look at this gamemode, it's blatanly obvious this wasn't how it was intended to be for launch.

Face of the Franchise has a solid basis. The new NFL storylines had promise. What kills it is the lack of meaningful storylines and choices, the bugs, glitches, and lack of immersion. How am I supposed to think this is my player when I spent all college building him and he just resets back when i get drafted? How do I run a 4.4 and get 60 speed? It's just not fun or immersive.

My theory is : 2k caused all of this. No, seriously. EA told us they moved the whole franchise team to work on FotF. I think they finished this early build of it, and then EA completely shifted absolutely all of their resources to The Yard the second 2k got approval for an arcade game. They thought this early, glitchy, unpolished version of FotF was good enough to launch with (and I doubt they even play tested it), smacking the FotF team right in the face. Which is such a weak move. This is no excuse however, as the base storyline should be way better than this. I could come up with 10 better ones in 15 minutes. But maybe, just maybe it could be a lot better. I assume EA will randomly come out with a huge ass patch to fix all this, or fix it slowly, and FotF will be a whole new experience. Which is bullshit. I paid $80 (ima sucker, i know) to play a working finished game on August 25th. Not to wait a couple months (if not more) for it to be playable.
