Possible madden 22 cover image shoot?. From April

Face of the Franchise forces K Chris Boswell to become black to fight for the starting QB position.

Madden spent more time creating that cover video than they have fixing franchise mode in the last 5 years

Just came in the mail today, can't wait to start playing it.

This appeared on my Twitter feed this morning, it’s the link for the madden 22 cover reveal on June 17th. Two goats= Brady and Mahomes.

This is why I hate this game. Somehow was a pass deflection.

My Madden 22 (and beyond) wishlist

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 10:40 AM PDT

    Aesthetics/Appearances

    1. Loose sleeve undershirts/undershirt redesign. The skintight, molded look needs to be replaced with more realistic fitting undershirts. Some are compression, yes, but we see the looser, baggier long sleeves (and even short sleeves) a lot in the league. Also, the 3/4th option like Rodgers or Goff wears in cold weather games where it comes just slightly lower than mid-forearm.

    2. Wristband placement and size. This one has irked me for a while. Some quarterbacks or players wore them where the hand meets the wrist, like Manning or Brees, but a plethora of players wore them slightly above that (Brett Favre, Tony Romo, etc). The sizes of the wrist/forearm bands could use an improvement.

    3. Return of the VSR-4 and Bike Helmets. Many of the great players of the last 40 years wore these iconic helmets and they should make a return.

    4. Redesign of the vintage facemasks. The JOP and other vintage facemasks that they added in game just doesn't fit the helmet or face properly. They look like you put a youth facemask on an adult helmet.

    5. ROPO-SK and other facemasks. I'd love to see some one-off facemasks in game. Tomlinson's facemasks would be great and the ROPO-SK was the facemask Roethlisberger wore with his old VSR-4 when he won his Super Bowls.

    6. Thigh and kneepad size (shaved). A big one. Many players shave their pads down to skate the NFLs rules about requiring lower pads. I'd love to see this as an in-game option.

    7. Redesign of eye black appearance. Like with some of the facemasks, most eye black options just don't look good and could use an improvement.

    8. Customizable facial features. Similar to other (non-EA) sports games.

    9. Customizable head size/helmet size, hair and facial hair. Same as the previous topic. Essentially, we need an 'under the helmet' design feature. This would also affect how the helmet sits on the head. A good example is looking at how Elway's or Fitzpatrick's helmet sits on their head versus Montana or Brady. Mostly would affect rounded style helmets (Air XP, VSR-4, Air Advantage, etc)

    10. Jersey fit/style improvement or redesign. This speaks for itself, but I'd love to see the addition of vintage jersey styles i.e. the old long sleeved Johnny Unitas jerseys or the longer loose sleeved jerseys that Montana and Rice wore.

    11. Sock options (bare legs occasionally exposed). Again, self explanatory.

    12. Pre-snap movement options. This should be a customizable feature with multiple options and not a random, generic movement. Manning, Rodgers, Brady...just some ideas for the options.

    13. Cold weather under helmet bacalavas. Many players wear them in cold weather games. It would be great to have them as an option.

    14. Tucked and untucked jerseys. This should be a customizable option. Some players wear untucked jerseys, some wear them tucked. Make it an option.

    15. Hand towel and handwarmer placement. This is something that's needed to be fixed for a while. Most quarterbacks wear the towel centered, over their groin, whereas most receivers and other players wear them off to the side like what you currently see in game. Same with the handwarmer. Some wear them in the front, some wear them in the back. Make it an option.

    16. Event/weather triggered equipment options. Some quarterbacks wear a glove(s) in cold weather games but not in warmer weather games. Much like the sleeve temperature meter, all other equipment pieces need the same attention.

    17. Wristcoach design and placement. Needs improvement and overhaul. Some QBs wear larger ones that sit higher on the forearm and some wear smaller ones that sit closer to the wrist. Give us the option to choose.

    Franchise Mode

    1. Offensive/Defensive Coordinators/GMs. We have all been clamoring for this for almost a decade if not longer. The system that NCAA 14 used was almost perfect. The ability to be promoted and demoted is an appealing part of the coaching legacy process.

    2. Coaching skill matters in sim and in-game. With a coaching and GM skill tree, it makes a coaches level matter more. From scouting players to practice skill improvements, all coaches and GMs shouldn't be alike as far as what they bring to the table (or field). Some coaches should have X-Factor traits that help them. Coaches like Belichick and Andy Reid have edges over coaches like Adam Gase and that should reflect in the game and in sims.

    3. Trade and FA improvements. I'm not as knowledgeable in this area as many of you are, but I think we can all agree on the notion that trades and free agency needs an overhaul.

    4. Player Concerns (Money, Winning, Location) players willing/unwilling to take pay cuts and extensions. This partly plays in with free agency, but the player concerns (like what you see in NBA 2K) should be a factor. Some players are all about the money and nothing else. Some want massive playing time. Some just want to win. Some want to be at the beach or close to home. They should implement 2Ks system.

    5. Full HOF list and HOF tracking/discussion. I want to see them all and have updates and talk about how a players legacy is growing.

    6. In depth Stat tracking and celebration. This is important. Not just league records but team records. Even mundane records like 'most 300 yard games in a season', first rookie QB to win a Super Bowl, etc., should be mentioned in-game and/or in the news wire.

    7. Crowd interactions. The Lambeau Leap anyone? Crowd interactions would add to the realism. High fives in the tunnel, etc.

    8. Senior Bowl, Combine, and Pro Days. Fully playable. Self explanatory. Let us get a feel for players before the draft. Combine events and Pro Day activities were a blast in previous versions of the game.

    9. Practice not in full uniform. Shorts and pads. That mid-00s Madden look to practice. Plus, who really practices in full pads.

    10. Training camp battles. If you have two players that are close enough in ratings (say a 5 point difference) there should be storyline/camp battle that's triggered.

    11. Player events (QB unhappy QB was drafted). A big one. I want to know if my players are unhappy and I want it to possibly cause drama. I want to see the Favre/Rodgers, Rodgers/Love, Montana/Young, Brady/Bledsoe events unfold in franchise mode. I want to hear them talk about it. Write about it. I want to see performance affected by it.

    12. Improved college scouting. It goes along with the Combine listing, but it needs to be further in-depth. Player concerns and intangibles need to be able to be discovered and factored.

    13. Play every game even if not controlling team. Prior to Madden 13 and the implementation of Connected Careers, you could go to the weekly schedule and play whatever game you wanted without controlling said team. They need to bring that back.

    14. God-Mode (Total control). This really goes into the other listings, but Madden 12' was the gist. You could control and edit everything.

    15. New team/stadium designer. Let us choose the city and design the stadium, team name, uniform, everything. Stop with the pre-designed garbage. Those designs suck.

    16. League rule changes (like NBA 2K). Self explanatory. 2K has many features that Madden needs and this is one. Expansion teams, elimination of the salary cap, jersey number change, etc. This would be realistic and perfect.

    17. Redesigned victory cut scenes. Self explanatory. We've had the same cutscenes for years now. It needs an overhaul.

    18. Saved preseason stats and permission to proceed to regular season (like in The Show). You could sim the preseason and read scouting reports and stats to determine who you'd want to start. When you sim the preseason now it just deletes all stats.

    19. Create-a-play. Self explanatory.

    20. Better Draft Presentation. Players walking across the stage, holding up the jersey. If their desired jersey number is available on the team that drafts them in the first round, let that number be on the jersey, especially the top 5-10 picks. Green room cutscenes would be a great addition. Part of the draw of the NFL is that many of us fans enjoy the entire experience and all the minute details. It's all about the small details.

Mod for NFL 2k5, or madden 04-08?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 06:02 PM PDT

I don't really like Madden 21 but the thing that keeps me from playing the older games is the fact that theres no play only offense option or supersim. I'm not really a defensive guy and i just find it more relaxing to just play offense. Anyone know a good mod for this? also even if theres not what is the best classic football game to try out cause i haven't really played any of them.

We all know the game is bad. But has anyone fully tracked what got the game to the state it is now???

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 04:29 PM PDT

I'm talking beyond the easy to yell out blanket statements of
    "EA is greedy"
    "They only focus on MUT"
"The exclusive deal allows them to do whatever long as the NFL gets paid"

I've been a long time player of the game (since 2001 with Eddie George on the cover) and have seen the game go from struggling to stand out from the competition of 2K/Gameday/QB Club/Fever/Blitz to the highs of seeing stores raided on release night to the miserable lows of now.

Now reminiscing with friends about the days we used to play together some thing are starting to standout as to why the game is no longer viable to most players. I've seen a few videos from content creators like SoftdrinkTV who have slightly touched on the details that created the progressive continued failure of this game.

I'm going to list off a few things that I can see evident within 19, 20, and 21 (cuz they're basically the same game) or remembering things over the years that effected gameplay.
    - The animation chain/process for all play-action plays has changed in over a decade and is PS2 era code. It's literally the same as 06,07, & 08 (possibly earlier)
    - Parts of the Pro-Tak system from around 10/11 are still there but don't work as players attempt to gang-tackle or chain-tackle but there's no weave point
    - The old MUT abilities (pre-18 era) that use slightly break the game were brought into the full game mechanics and break the whole game
    - Offensive ball carriers now move similar the first MUT card that made TY Montgomery an RB (those who remeber should be able to see it)
    - The introduction of Ball Hawk (hold Triangle of PS and be moved in to best position to pick the ball) has now progressed into Perfect Timing User Pick which allows the defender to pick it off all on timing regardless of how well placed a ball is or WR positioning, which has nerfed the Deep Ball game except for speeders like a Tyreek Hill
    - The breaking off of play styles into Arcade, Sim, and Comp which would be fine if not for all online being comp and the tresholding that occurs making any attribute under 80 not useful really, making the game only about sup'd up players and stars.
    - To go off the last, the creation of "Meta" teams and styles of play based off post from people like MUTleaks on Twitter that leads to things such as "Money Plays" or Joker building a no-pass team with P Tress Way at QB to win.

    - To the last point also, the shear amount of copycat players who take what thy see on YT and don't change. It make online play boring and predictable.

    - Changing from a personal/unique game engine to Frostbite (an FPS game engine)
    - Remembering when pass defenders followed the WR and not the ball leading to the deep pass "Swere Manuver"
    - The attempt at a "real" phsyics engine in 25/15 that was poorly done after Backbreaker released which NCAA used to create a hit-box style animation system.
    - Play Scripting or Forced Result implementation that really can't be overcome

    - DDA in online play which is apparent but they say isn't there

All I could think of at the moment
Hope others comment below with other examples.

    Pc wired or wireless controller?

    Posted: 14 Jun 2021 05:51 PM PDT

Hey guys I have a lot of people tell me I don't need a wired controller but I think I would feel better if I had a wired one. I really want the elite series 2 but I don't think they have a wired version. Anyone who plays competition madden I'd love to get some insight!
