Storylines: a Franchise Mode Idea Posted: 03 Jan 2021 05:49 PM PST I think one thing Franchise Mode has always been missing to one degree or another is drama outside the game itself. Way back in 2003 when I was a wee boy in high school (17 years ago? hold on I need a drink) there would be storylines concerning your team. They would mostly play out in a newspaper and possibly in the sports talk radio show that played during the downtime between games. It was a very bare bones system but it was kind of interesting and made it feel more like you were playing and NFL season. With all the new technology available to the developers I think it would be possible to fully expand on storylines making the simulation aspect of Franchise Mode even more deep as you see just how your decisions for the team play out in the media and amongst the fans and the NFL brass. Stories could be divided into short term (one week/game) medium (one or two weeks/games) and long term (a whole season or off season). Here's an example of each: Short: Its your first game of the season and your playing at home. You get stopped on third down and inches and decide to go for it on fourth down. You get stopped and wind up losing the game. After the game ends you get the opportunity to attend a press conference with the coach and you get asked why you made the decision to go for it on fourth down. Whatever answer you give has an effect on morale and team perception (each response should have its own pros and cons though, there shouldn't be a "right" or "wrong" answer). Medium: In your third game of the season one of your players is injured. The extent of the injury isn't fully known yet but you're told "its bad" by your trainer. After the game you get asked about the injury and you decide to be honest and say it looks bad (you will of course have other options but for examples sake lets say you told them the injury was bad). At the start of the next week there's a story about the injury in the local paper and you get an email from ESPN asking if you plan to replace the player via a trade or a free agent. You decline to comment and during your next game the commentators mention the injury when you come on the field with a formation that would usually include the player. At the start of the next week you decide to put the player on injured reserve and sign a replacement. This gets mentioned in the pregame commentary. Long: At the end of the off season you put in a request for a new stadium. The request gets declined and you threaten to leave the city if they don't reconsider. The city gets ticked off and leaks your threat to the press. You take a major hit in popularity and decide to go through with the move (again for examples sake you would have the option to stay too perhaps recovering your popularity but pretty much torpedoing any chance at a new stadium). Throughout the season as you make progress on relocating the commentators mention things about your plans to move (for instance perhaps during a halftime show they will cut to footage of your new stadium being built or of your unveiling your new team logo). As your season comes to an end you make the playoffs, and in game commentary mentions some of your fans created the hashtag #onelasttime! to celebrate your success even though you plan to leave. While you fall short of the superbowl your new fans are impressed with your record and you start in the new city with increased popularity. I know this is a long shot idea but what do you guys think of it? Do you have any ideas for possible storylines? Oh and since I'm dreaming: storylines could unlock special merchandise options (like a T-shirt in your team story saying Team Name: 2022 #onelasttime.) [link] [comments]
Posted: 03 Jan 2021 07:53 PM PST Am i the only one who is constantly lagging, to the point where i can't even move. Most of my games i either get kicked out of and given a loss, or i lag so bad to the point where i can't even play. I usually stay around mvp division and have made it to legend once before, but ever since playing on my ps5 (ps4 version) i have demoted to pro because i am constantly given losses and lose to people i should have beat because this game hates me [link] [comments]

Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:08 AM PST Start as a backup like a real one. this whole "winning a super bowl your first season then injuring you" bs is ridiculous. i would rather throw a couple games to make it feel like i'm actually improving but the game makes it SO easy [link] [comments]
If I buy the PS4/PS5 version on the ps5, can I also play it on my PS4 if it’s on the same account? Posted: 03 Jan 2021 06:53 PM PST I gave my PS4 to my little brother as a gift this Christmas and I was wondering if he can still download the game off my account in the library. Haven't checked yet though. [link] [comments]

Posted: 03 Jan 2021 04:15 PM PST "Oh gawd. That's quite a list... And most of em were in Madden during the PS2 era!
Dude, there is soooooo much more I could add but the point is EA went WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY downhill in the last 12 years or so to the point where they literally don't give a shit about the customers. Nowadays it's all micro transactions, MUT and other arcadey bullshit. If they wanna make an arcadey game then fine. But don't do it after you buy the exclusive NFL sim license! Fuck ea. I hate them so very much and hope the NFL understands how lazy, greedy and uncaring they actually are." [link] [comments]

Small but crucial detail that changes scouting significantly from M17 to M21 Posted: 03 Jan 2021 04:00 PM PST Like a lot of you, I too stupidly bought Madden 21 this year and regretted it immediately, but suffered through it for a while trying to distract myself with franchise mode, which would be fine if scouting wasn't so stupidly easy. Scouting, for the most part, has been relatively the exact same thing for the better half of the past decade, but in M21 there's one small thing that makes it way easier, and way less fun. The Red/Green diamonds. To elaborate further, when you scout in M21 you'll get a diamond that's either red or green depending on the relation from the projected talent to true talent. The problem though is that it literally tells you the overall range of the player. If you scout someone that's projected in the 4th round but their true talent says they're an early 1st, then congratulations you'll get a player that's 75 OVR or higher. Late 1st? You'll get a 71-72 OVR player. So on, and so forth throughout the entire draft, which essentially takes all of the surprise out of scouting and drafting. All the way back in Madden 17, scouting was essentially the same. Three grades, 15-10-5, red and green diamonds, but one of the big differences that made it at least a little more suspenseful was that those diamonds didn't tell you just how good a player would be, and instead you'd actually have to take risks to get a good player. For example, I drafted the other night and needed a backup DT for depth, so I took a guy who had a Green diamond saying he'd be a Mid 5th round talent instead of an early 6th only to find out he was an 81 OVR and the 5th best player in the class. Had this been M21, he would have been listed as a mid/early 1st round talent along with 10 other DTs. This is not a post to talk about how wildly different the OVRs are between the draft classes, because in that aspect I actually prefer the way M21 does their draft classes, with OVR being balanced and not too overpowered, but also making finding Dev traits a challenge. The issue is the Diamonds tell you exactly what you are going to get, and if you just use all your scouting points you'll be able to figure out the entire order of the draft basically. TL;DR The Green/Red diamonds made scouting too easy in M21 but were done the right way in M17. [link] [comments]
