Posted: 10 Mar 2020 05:35 PM PDT While it has been a good day of news for NFL fans, even if it's just a non-sim experience, we're going to remove vague posts regarding the 2K news, unless it is new news. There was a huge flood today of people just mentioning it and we started taking them down. We'll continue taking them down. Feel free to post shit memes (as long as they're not reposts) and discussions (though try to keep them related to Madden), but any repeat announcement posts will be removed. [link] [comments]

Posted: 10 Mar 2020 08:45 PM PDT I have been playing Madden for 20 years. Adjusted for technology, Madden is far behind the times, and it's a shell of what it should be. The game reflects more of the NFL shield and Roger Goodell than the look and feel of the real NFL. In Madden, the fields are always green, the stands are always full, and there is not a HINT of human grit in this game. Past NFL games had ever changing weather, field and uniform degradation, and fans who would be ghosts in the upper deck if the home team was behind by 2 TD's with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. There is not a scintilla of soul in Madden - and any fan who goes to a real NFL game, can see sidelines get engaged, enraged and energized when there is a material change in the game. All Madden is, an evolving mechanized body simulation now, with EA is always promising new features, but never really delivering game changing improvements or customizations. I want to play a Madden game that looks and FEELS like the real NFL. I am a pro football season ticket holder, I have never ever been to a game, where the sidelines were not in awful shape by the end of the game. In Madden, there is no realism over time. The field in Pittsburgh is notoriously bad because Pitt plays on Saturday, and Steelers on Sunday, but Madden's Heniz field is always gorgeous….Cleveland's stadium is older now… natural grass, but doesn't look any different than the 49'ers which is brand new, and in a total different climate. How lazy can you get? Atlanta is the only franchise in the NFL where the majority of season ticket holders are African American… in Madden, there is no story there, no feel for what this team is, compared to the rich Cowboy's who pay 1/2M for PSL's on a 10 year contract… compared to the sweltering feel of Tampa in a September or Green Bay in a WC card game - when it's ZERO outside and trash and debris are blowing across the end zone. The NFL has 32 different cultures, 32 amazing histories, and this story should be told in an innovative, compelling 3D way by Madden… not by words alone, but in every aspect of the gameplay. The NFL is also a violent game, even this has been sanitized. In real life, some hits you can hear in the second deck… this has never happened in a Madden game. Sometimes the commentators go, "OMG, did you see that?" "This looks very serious." Players carted off should be raising the thumbs up… or have their hand's over their face because of their sadness and fear. Crowds should give them standing O's… it happens in real life in almost every game but the way. There should be some missed calls, with the commentators calling them out… going to league office… make it REAL. Commentary should reflect real time player stories, Mahomes came back from a dislocated knee cap and won the Super Bowl… not mentioned once. Commentary is lazy and totally off kilter to the stores on the field. NBA2K has incredible commentary, incredible crowd scenes… and rotating commenters, the old ESPN 2K football game had incredible commentary and halftime highlights… but we are stuck with "2 fake NFL analyst" subbing the name sakes of Madden and Summerall, Collingsworth and Michaels on and on. When you play a video football game, you pretend you are part player, part Coach, and maybe, part owner, and Madden has acted like a typical corporation (who owns the football platform) dictating to its customers what EA decides to deliver, instead of listening and reacting to what the paying customers have been demanding for years. A great example is the timing of the game. Football ends in February, but Madden makes its customer wait 6 months, and play a stale story of "yesterday's news" until the July 31 release. Madden needs to launch the game around the draft, and keep it fresh with downloads and updates. Madden also needs to let its users customize uniforms, because this keeps the game fresh, especially in the off season. so let the user be creative and give it's team the uni it always wanted… (College football figured this out a long time ago) - but like I said, EA wants to please the NFL over its paying customers. Seriously, if I want to make a wild retro look uniform for the Patriots - what difference does it make to you? I paid for the game, so why do you care? Past football games allowed for it, and it was super fun. Like a lot of gamers, I loved NCAA Football too, because it was more fun… the commentary was SUPERIOR…What I would like to see is EA's CEO say - "We have to change Madden, because we owe it to these gamers to give them something absolutely incredible" and we have not. Anyone else think 2k should’ve worked with the XFL? Posted: 10 Mar 2020 10:25 PM PDT I was thinking this because I read that 2k said they want to make a non-simulation type football game, and because of EA's success with Madden, it might be a flop. However, if they have gone with the XFL, it would be a new thing for gamers and fans to experience, because the XFL is more of a "non-simulation" type league, making the non-simulation type game more realistic. This is just a thought I had, and I thought it would be interesting, and I also want to hear what you guys think. [link] [comments]
