Madden 21 Beta Codes For The Madden Subreddit

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 12:50 PM PDT

EA Sports has reached out and provided a chunk of Madden 21 closed beta codes for our sub. These codes are for XBOX One and PlayStation 4.

The Madden community manager reached out and made sure we were the first sub to get codes so we don't feel as if we are being ignored. From our brief conversation, I can assure you your voices are being heard but please continue to provide feedback in a constructive way.

If you are interested in getting a closed beta code, please reply to this thread with the player you are most excited to use in Madden 21 and the console you are on. We will randomly choose winners throughout the day. We will also be going around the sub and looking at recent helpful/constructive comments and awarding those users with closed beta codes as well. Please do not overwhelm the mod team with DMs or messages asking for beta codes. That is a surefire way to not get one.

There are just 2 things we were asked to pass along to you and we ask anyone we give a code to follow these rules.

    • You are not allowed to capture/stream/post videos or pictures of the Madden 21 Closed Beta
    • Please provide constructive feedback at the M21 Closed Beta Forums here http://www.ea.com/games/madden/beta

You can learn more about the Madden 21 Closed Beta at https://forums.ea.com/en/madden-nfl/discussion/259947/madden-nfl-21-closed-beta

While we were fortunuate enough to receive a good chunk of codes, they go relatively fast and when we run out, we are not able to get any more.

    Prove me wrong, EA #FixMaddenFranchise

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 03:00 AM PDT

I can’t be the only one having this problem

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:44 PM PDT

    Uhh... It's back??

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 07:13 PM PDT

Madden 21 is DONE. It releases in a month and a half. They're not adding anything to release with the game.

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:09 AM PDT

I love the optimism, guys. I love this game and want it to be good. I'm a franchise die hard and that will never change.

But it's a month and a half out from release, what can they add to fix this game? Honestly? This game is already being made into discs in factories and they're working on the real face update that follows release and comes out in late September-early October. Anything that is even thought of for franchise will be a patch sometime around Christmas.

They released that video as a PR stunt. Please don't fall for it. This game has so much potential and you're all too smart to be gullible enough to believe they're gonna fix franchise in a month. Be realistic. Keep flooding them with bad press and don't buy the game until it goes on sale, please. Just have that much self restraint and make their initial release numbers plummet. Money talks. It may be the only language these gaming higher ups understand.

I love you all, keep fighting for what you want.

I see Madden creations are at it again

I have access to the beta. Here are my initial thoughts!

    Posted: 04 Jul 2020 01:12 AM PDT

Okay so I just finished my first game and here are my initial thoughts

    • Lamar Jackson's XFactor is stupid if you have to defend it. Once I activated it I was running around not giving a shit about sliding knowing I can't fumble at all and you only need 5 positive runs with him to activate it.

    • The running style is very smooth which is a great surprise, everything feels very fluid and goes together

    • How well you can use the right analog stick to juke will play a big factor, the dead leg into a spin move is a lethal combo that breaks a lot of tackles

    • I am not a fan of having to press Y to truck I would like to see it go back to the up direction on the right analog stick instead of hurdle

    • Bullrush is the quickest pass rush move if you win the battle and stick skills play a factor here as well. I actually enjoyed rushing off the edge.

    • They did not update any of the fans in the stadium and dudes on the sideline all have the same animations. Cosmetic L

Full Breakdown & Impressions From The M21 Beta

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 10:30 AM PDT

I'll update this as I play more this weekend. These are my thoughts on the game so far, yours may vary. Playing default sliders All-Pro

    Main Menu/Menus

    • Main Menu is now a "live menu" with Lamar standing in a very glossy looking room and a big board of news.

    • All the option menus are the same.

    • Choosing modes just has the new UI.

    • Choosing Teams is about the same. Shows team overall and the 3 highest rated players.

    • Only one loading screen right now and it is the same as M20 with Mahomes and his abilities.

    Presentation

    • Intro is very samey.

    • The EA logo wipe is gone and now it is a splash with a loud noise. Also happens during timeout and quarter end and flags. Very annoying.

    • Kickoff camera is quite nauseating. It follows the kickers foot usually.

    • Same commentators as M20.

    • Stats showing is the same when your QB gets on the field.

    • Celebrations have more opportunities but it feels very gimmicky. Nice touch at least...

    Defense

    • Holding LT shows the play art again, but it also shows the sticks and buttons for pass rush moves.

    • Users feel slow. This is good for counter user LB's but bad for D-line. I like it but D-line needs improvements.

    • Feel like I can win against blockers now usering the line.

    • Defenders play the receiver now more than the ball. Haven't had egregious interceptions of the defender not looking.

    • Tackling feels REALLY good.

    • Hit sticks aren't as OP. Much easier to miss imo.

    • AI seems to be smarter when running the ball. Less random jukes and not hitting holes.

    • QB's take off more often. Lamar will run a lot more than before on pass plays.

    • Contain ACTUALLY works on QB's.

    • On user LB again, you can't stay with them with how the game feels. You need high elusiveness to change direction easy and LB's don't so if you read the route wrong you will be punished.

    • DB's will still let the ball sail over them sometimes and other times they'll make a jump on the ball. Inconsistent here.

    Special Teams

    • Kicking is the same.

    • Can't cheese punt returns very easy anymore imo.

    Offense

    • New stick skill is hard. You can't juke late anymore and expect an animation. Same goes for all moves.

    • Receivers still have some jank animations but they hold onto the ball now.

    • Pass protection holds up much better.

    • Blocking overall is better. AI is still suspect with getting to second level but you can run between the tackles now.

    • Running is still easy if you make it easy. i.e. high blocking sliders type of stuff.

    • Throw out of sack is a very nice feature.

    • Reaching for goal line works. Only had it once so far but it is nice no longer going down at the 1/2 yard line.

    • Change of direction is different. You can't cut on a dime. Hard to explain, more of a feel thing.

    • HB screens are fixed! No more getting stuck on O-linemen.

    • Receivers don't need a ton of separation to catch the ball. As long as you lead where they are open they will usually get it.

    • Mismatches matter a lot more on both sides of the ball so pay attention to who's covering who.

    • Browsing depth chart and Elusiveness isn't there. Now called COD for Change of Direction.

    • You lose stamina very fast when sprinting. Conserve it.

    • Receivers no longer jump unnecessarily for the ball. They also drop it more often without being touched if they have low catching.

    • Getting in the zone is much easier now in Simulation mode.

    Graphics

    • Same AFAIK but some player likeness looks better.

    Super Sim

    • Sim stats seem more accurate at the moment. Hard to really test without franchise.

TLDR: The game feels different in a good way. I like a lot of the changes to gameplay. Some issues still happen but from a pure gameplay perspective it is FAR better than M20. Don't listen to people trying to say it plays like 20, it doesn't. It may be a Madden 20 2.0 from a feature standpoint, but not gameplay. Feel free to make suggestion on things I should check for below. If you are looking for the X-Factors and Abilities go here. Also, currently Enforcer is not in the beta. So we can only hope it is gone for good.

Final Note: If you only play franchise, do not buy this game unless it is less than $60. They need to add more to franchise to make it worth it.

    We Need A Roadmap

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 06:51 AM PDT

We got the developers attention to acknowledge the horrid state of franchise mode, however them stating they will make it a priority isn't enough. Mike Young literally mentioned in an interview with gameinformer that it would be a focus going forward stating the following:

"Franchise has come back to being a big focus on the game and it will continue to be," Young says. "We just want to add this rich depth and immersion to it so we're starting to think about it more like a sports RPG."

I highly recommend taking the recent update from Madden's Executive Producer with a grain of salt. There can only be so much added to the game mode within a 7 week release window, and even expecting EA to bring updates to franchise within the year is slim as development needs to begin for the new cycle. Also consider we are heading towards a new gen as well. Realistically the best thing we can expect and hope for is a roadmap detailing what EAs plan is to fix franchise within a 2-5 year cycle. This better holds them accountable.

Why is Mike Evans so glitchy? (M21 Beta)

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 04:30 PM PDT

Mike Evans is playing like the greatest receiver of all time in my games. You can throw it up to him deep and at least 70% of the time he's come down with it and broken tackles afterwards. I'm about to check if Julio is the same, but damn he's so good.

    Slow Sim Presentation

    Posted: 03 Jul 2020 05:11 PM PDT

They've probably worked on this stuff so that you can watch your defense play with a better presentation in face of the franchise, but I run a slow sim league on madden 20. After playing through the madden 21 beta on slow mode I noticed the presentation was a lot better, interaction between players between plays, huddles, and interactions with coaches. Transitions and some of the camera angles are pretty cool too. Despite not caring about face of the franchise at least it brought some new presentation to the small subset of the community that run GM leagues.
