    • Sim-style gameplay is a must. We have rules in place to help limit cheese

    • Average to above average users (imo). If your skill level is around there, this league should be fun and competitive for you.

    Following the Career of the Top 5 Picks in Madden 21

    Given the amount of 1st round busts in the last 10 years ( Jadeveon Clowney, John Ross, Jamies Winston, Josh Rosen, the list goes on and on) I thought it would intresting to follow the career of the top 5 picks in a (fictional) draft and see where they go.

    The Draft Order - Jaguars(3-13) Vikings (4-12) Broncos (4-12) Jets (5-11) Raiders (5-10-1)

    Draft Day.

    With the Number Two Pick in the 2021 NFL draft the Minnesota Vikings select Ike Hopkins (CB) out of Florida State. After the Jaguars passed on a QB, the Vikings had a choice. Bring in a potential franchise QB or go best player available and take Hopkins. They chose to take Hopkins. Hopkins at just 5′ 10″ weighing 196 doesn't seem like much but was the top corner in the draft.

    He comes in at a 76ovr (Zone Corner) with 94 speed with 80 zone coverage and 73 Play Recognition. However he has just 60 tackling. He will come in as the Vikings number 1 corner. He has a Hidden Dev Trait. He joins a stacked defense that has Harrison Smith, Michael Pierce, Erik Kendrick's and Danielle Hunter.

    Year 1. The Vikings and the NFL are expecting big things out of the #2 pick and Hopkins delivers.

    He had a sensational rookie season finishing with 55 tackles, 4 INT's, 5TFL's and 1 FF. He goes on to will DROY. The Vikings defense was solid all season finishing 7th in the NFL. However the offense struggled and the team went 8-8 missing the playoffs. Hopkins is a Superstar and is now 80ovr.

    Year 2. The Vikings were hoping Hopkins could build of his rookie season and progress even further. However Hopkins could not live up to the high expectations. He finished the season with 53 tackles, 4 INT's, 8TFL's and 0 FF. Not a bad season, but fell short of expectations. The Vikings had poor season going 7-9 largely due to a aging and poor offense. Hopkins continued to progress reaching 86ovr.

    Year 3. The Vikings had hired a new head coach and Hopkins fit the new scheme perfectly. He continued to improve and all signs were pointing to a breakout season. Hopkins delivered. He became a shutdown corner with 7 INT's,58 tackles, 7TFL's with 1 SCK(sack). He was a ProBowl corner and won the NFC's best DB. Despite a ProBowl year from Hopkins, the Vikings who had a 35 year old Kirk Cousins and 33 Year old Adam Thielen couldn't preform and the Vikings once again went 8-8 missing the playoffs. Hopkins is now a 90ovr X-Factor.

    Year 4. The Vikings had a big offseason, drafting a QB in the first round and bringing in 5 new starters in free agency. The new Vikings looked solid and could make a playoff run. After having a ProBowl year expectations were high for Hopkins and the Vikings. They came though going 9-7. Hopkins had another ProBowl year. He had 49 tackles, 4 TFL's, 1FF and 6 INT's. The Vikings would get blown out by the Seahawks 38-7 in the Wildcard. Hopkins didn't progress much but is a 92ovr.

    This was also the year Hopkins contract expired. Hopkins had no desire to play in Minnesota. Despite playing on a high level for 4 years, the Viking shad just 1 playoff appearance. Hopkins was now a free agent. He was one of the best free agents available and had offers from 4 different teams (Seahawks, Saints, Ravens and the Dolphins. He would end up signing with the Seattle Seahawks on a 4 year deal worth about 10.5M a year. This was a win-win for both sides. The Seahawks, who never had a shutdown corner since Richard Sherman were getting a All-Pro Corner and Hopkins was going to a team that was a winner. The Seahawks were a Super Bowl ready team. Their offense, led by Justin Herbert was solid with D.K Metcalf and Curtis Samuel out wide with Chris Carson in the backfield. The defense with a great pair of safety's (Jamal Adams 96ovr and Tarik Cohen(fake player) at 85ovr).

    Year 5. Expectations were high for the Seahawks going into the season. They added an All-Pro corner and were looking like the best team in the NFC. The Seahawks were dominant, going 13-3 and getting a first round bye. Hopkin's came in and immediately made a difference. He had 10 INT's, 2FF, 6 TFL's with 58 tackles. He once again made the ProBowl (3 in a row). The Seahawks nearly lost to the Cowboys in the divisional round beating them 24-23. They advanced to the conference championship where they beat out the Saints in a shootout 35-31. The Seahawks were headed to the Super Bowl. Over the 2 playoff games Hopkins managed 7 tackles, 1 INT and 1 FF. They took on the Kansas City Chiefs in the super bowl and were dominant beating them 28-17. Ike Hopkins won DPOY becoming the first CB to win the award since Stephon Gilmore in 2019. After winning DPOY Hopkins is now 96ovr.

    Year 6. This was a bit of a down year for Hopkins. He suffered an injury in week 14 keeping him out of they playoffs. The Seahawks went 11-5 (going 0-2 without Hopkins) and lost in Divisional Round to the Rams. Hopkins had just 47 tackles, 3 INT's and 1 SCK with 4 TFL's. He stays at 96ovr.

    Year 7. The Seahawks upgrades their Offensive and Defensive line over free agency and the draft and were ready to make a Super Bowl run. Justin Herbert was 91ovr and D.K Metcalf who turned 30 was still a force at 92ovr. The Seahawks would go 11-5 and win the division. Hopkins was impressive with 51 tackles, 5 INT's, 2 SCK with 5 TFL's. He made the ProBowl for the 4th time. They were dominant in the playoffs beating the Cowboys, Saints and Packers to get to the Super Bowl. The Seahawks won a nail-biter in Arizona against the Chargers, winning 28-27. He hits 97ovr.

    Year 8. This was the final year on Hopkin's current deal. He is 29 years old and has reached the age of regression. The 'Hawks finished 10-6 but got knocked out in the Wildcard to the Falcons. Hopkins was solid, finishing the year with 50 tackles, 4 INT's,3 TFL's and 1 FF. He regressed going down to a 93ovr.

    He ended up signing a 2-Year Deal with the Seahawks worth just under 11M a year.

    Year 9. At 30 years old Hopkin was still one of the best corners in the league. The Seahawks had a down year going 8-8 and missing the playoffs. Hopkin's was a bright spot on a poor Seattle defense. He recorded 53 tackles,6 INT's 4 TFL's and 2 FF. For the fifth time in his career Hopkins made the ProBowl. Hopkins continued to regress dropping to a 90ovr.

    Year 10. The Seahawks went 9-7 and made the playoffs. The beat the Panthers in the Wildcard 30-14 and then beat the Giants 21-17. They would lose to the Packers in the Conference Championship. Hopkins stellar year reaching double digit INT's. He had 51 tackles, 11 INT's 3 TFL's and 0FF. He made the ProBowl for the 6th time. His regression continued and he dropped down to a 86 ovr.

    At the end of season Hopkins did not resign with the Seahawks and was a free agent. At 32 his market was small. He got an offer from the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2 of Free Agency. He signed a deal worth just 7M with the Ravens. This wasn't an ideal situation for Hopkins. The Ravens didn't have the roster to compete.

    Year 11. With the Ravens, Hopkins was terrible. He recorded just 39 tackles, 2 INT's and 1 TFL. The Ravens finished 8-8 and snuck into the playoffs. They would make it to the Divisional Round losing to the London Bulldogs(Were the Raiders). He fell regressed to a 81ovr.

    After the season Hopkins did not resign with the Ravens. He is now 33. He would be a free agent for the 3rd time in his career. He remained un-signed until week 2 of the regular season. He was picked up by the London Bulldogs. This was an amazing for Hopkins. The Bulldogs had a Super bowl ready team and were just 1 piece away from the title, they hoped Hopkins could be that piece.

    Year 12. Hopkins had a lot to prove that season, after 3 disappointing seasons he had to show he could be a decent corner. He did just that. As the Bulldog's 2nd corner he recorded 46 tackles, 2 TFL's ,3 INT's and 1 SCK. The Bulldog's breezed through their schedule going 14-2. They dominated in the playoffs beating the Browns and Texans to advance to the SuperBowl where they would play the Giants. They won, making Hopkins the Super Bowl MVP(Hopkins had 2 INT's in the game).

    After the season Hopkins retired.

    He had an amazing career and had a shot for the Hall of Fame. He is tied for the 5th most INT's of all time. He was a shutdown corner and one of the best in the NFL for over a decade.

    Career Achievements and Stats.

    INT's - 65 (T-5th All Time) ProBowls - 6

    Sacks/TFL - 5/52 Super Bowl Wins - 3

    Tackles - 610 Playoff Record 12-5 (including Super Bowl wins.)

    FF - 7 Teams - Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks,
    Baltimore Ravens and the London Bulldogs.

    Awards - Super Bowl MVP. 1 Time DPOY. 3 Time best DB in the NFL.

    Does anyone think it's a little ridiculous that anytime you get 4/5 years down the line in Franchise mode there always ends up being 15-20 99 OVR QB's??
