What is the deal with the interceptions? Posted: 13 Apr 2021 08:17 PM PDT I know this has been talked about a bit and maybe it's because I'm a new player but I downloaded this game off game pass and played with some friends for a while now and I have to say the rate interceptions happen for us is ridiculous. I played a buddy the other night and he got 3 pick 6s out of a total of like 7 interceptions. I got a pick 6 myself and a few interceptions but what I'm getting at is I feel like this should be more of a rare thing when you really make an error in judgement on a pass. I don't even bother with long passes because it almost feels like a guarantee for an interception. Am I crazy/new or have you guys been finding this to be true as well? [link] [comments]

Why can’t they fix AI Draft Logic? Posted: 13 Apr 2021 11:03 AM PDT I just started a new franchise with the Jets and simmed year 1. I was trying for as much realism as possible so I tried my best to keep the same draft order as in the real life 2021 Draft. So with the #2 pick in the draft and trading Sam Darnold to the Panthers I was prepared to draft QB Zach Wilson. Well the moronic AI Jags end up taking LT Penei Sewell #1 overall instead of Trevor Lawrence. Yes they still had Gardner Minshew as their starting QB. Every time I get to a year 2 in any franchise it always ruins the experience for me due to all the cpu teams making unrealistic moves. I keep hearing that the Madden team is continually upgrading the AI logic but it's never seemed to be any different. Teams make just random moves that don't fit their defensive scheme and their drafts make 0 sense. I know I'm preaching to the choir here but as a 25+ year Madden player all I want is a realistic franchise experience. How hard is it to make even a semi realistic AI? I'm not expecting perfection here but come on is it too much to ask for a designed 4-3 defensive team to sign a DE that actually fits that particular scheme? If I see another 6'2 250lb Speed Rusher DE playing the 5 technique in a 3-4 I'm gonna blow my brains out!!!!! **RANT OVER** [link] [comments]

Posted: 13 Apr 2021 01:22 PM PDT Hey guys. So I know you all liked the previous posts regarding busts and undrafted players, so I figured id give my take on it. Rather than looking at the low ranked players who try to prove themselves, I took a different approach. I am looking at the 'generational' talents who have to live up to their expectations. In the first "episode", I'm gonna be taking a look at none other than 2021 Draft Prospect Trevor Lawrence. Before I begin, I'll give a few notes. To start, I will be using updated rosters, with moves such as Sam Darnold already in place. Second, because of the updated rosters, I will be starting from the beginning of the 2020 season (which will affect the draft order). Now that those are out of the way, lets begin. SEASON 1 Entering the draft, as matching real life, Trevor Lawrence was the top prospect of the QBs, and the entire class as a whole. So when the draft came around, it was a guarantee that he would be picked number one overall. Thats exactly what happened. In the first pick of the 2021 draft, Trevor Lawrence was selected by..... the Pittsburgh Steelers. Lawrence should fit right in as Ben's replacement, so hopefully it goes well in Pittsburgh. Entering the 2021 season, the Steelers were ranked at an 81 Overall. After losing names such as Ben and James Conner, along with various offensive linemen, everyone wondered how the Steelers would be able to compete especially in their week 1 matchup against the Chiefs. He already started to prove himself, throwing for over 300 yards and a touchdown. However, this did not continue to last. By the midseason mark, the Steelers were 2-5, in last place of their division. By the end of the season, the Steelers ended at a disappointing 4-12 record. Unfortunately, Lawrence's progress also struggled. Lawrence threw for only 3500 yards, 15 TDs, and 13 INTs, l;anding him second on ROTY behind Justin Fields of Jacksonville. Hopefully he picks it up in year 2. SEASON 2 With such a disappointing season, it was clear the Steelers needed to make big moves in Free Agency. They did just that by bringing in both Stephon Gilmore and Jaire Alexander, along with Harold Landry. Unfortunately, during the offseason, they also let TJ Watt walk, who ended up in Denver. Hopefully Harold Landry makes a good replacement in Lawrence's sophmore season. With the second overall pick in the draft, the Steelers selected WR Chuck Brooks out of FSU. With other glaring holes along the offensive line among defense, many were questioning the pick. Then again, maybe the increased weapons helps Lawrence out. Among their other picks in the draft, the Steelers selected a QB in the third round. Maybe the Steelers don't trust Lawrence as much as expected. After an amazing week 2 performance, throwing for over 350 yards and 4 TDs, Lawrence was promoted to Superstar X-Factor. A great change for both the success of Lawrence and the Steelers. This continued to be highlighted as Lawrence led the Steelers to a 6-2 record at the midseason point, tied for a lead in the division. Lawrence, after leading the Steelers to a 10-6 record, gets to advance to his first playoff game. After a 21-14 win against the Jets, he gets to test his progress against Patrick Mahomes. Unfortunately, this is where his playoff dreams died. However, Lawrence continued to show major improvements throughout this season, throwing for 4200 yards, 31 TDs, and 14 INTs. This improvement even led him to be ranked 7th for the AFC OPOY. Hopefully he keeps advancing as he goes onto season number three. SEASON 3 At the start of year 3, the Steelers desperately needed help on the offensive line after letting go of David Decastro. Fortunately, this help did come with signings such as Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Morgan Moses, Andre Dillard, and Drew Forbes. Along with the OL help, they also continued to sign other options such as Kareem Hunt and Anthony Walker Jr after re-signing Devin Bush. In the draft, with their lower picks in every round, did not make many good moves to make their team "younger". Season 3 got off to a good start, with a 5-3 record at midseason. Unfortunately, such a good start did not last as the Steelers finished 8-8, tied for last in the division and missing the playoffs. Lawrence threw for 4200 yards, 27 TDs, and 11 INTs, leading him to be ranked 9th in the OPOY Award. Entering the last year of his rookie deal, it will be interesting to see what the Steelers do. SEASON 4 After the 2023 season, and losing hall of famers such as Aaron Rodgers and Julio Jones, Lawrence had to make an impact in his 4th year. After signing Sheldon Rankins and Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Steelers were trying to make a playoff push after the release of Stephon Gilmore. The Steelers began their next season in a similar fashion, starting 5-3 through 8 games. Fortunately, their success continued as the Steelers finished their season 11-5, en route to Lawrence's second wild card appearance. Lawrence threw for 4400 yards, 33 TDs, and 13 INTs, leading to a 7th place in the MVP and a 4th for OPOY. After progressing through both the wildcard and divisional games, Lawrence got to appear in his first conference championship against the one who has haunted him for his entire rookie contract, Patrick Mahomes. Again, Lawrence and the Steelers fell short. SEASON 5 After his rookie deal, Lawrence was signed to a 5 year, 194 Million dollar extension to stay in Pittsburgh. Hopefully he can bring them more success as a now 94 Overall. The Steelers apparently like to follow patterns, going to a third 5-3 record at the midseason mark. The Steelers finished their season 10-6, making this Lawrence's third wild card appearance. While Lawrence struggled by only throwing 3600 yards, he did manage only 5 INTs this season which put him at 9th in OPOY. After advancing to the divisional round, Lawrence once again had to go against Mahomes. Once again, he failed. SEASON 6 After his first 5 seasons in the league, Lawrence has now progressed to a 96 Overall. He became a top quarterback in the league, and his stats expressed the same ideas. HOwever, the team around him continued to struggle. The Steelers continued to miss in the draft 6 years into his career. Outside of Lawrence, Steelers fans could not remember a significant draft pick. The Steelers had their best start yet, with a 7-1 record through 8 games. Their immediate success continued as they finished the season 11-5. This lead Lawrence to another wild card game. However, he would have to go up against none other than Patrick Mahomes. Once again, the Steelers came up short. Even with their wild card loss, Lawrence continued to play well that season. Lawrence threw for 4100 yards, 41 TDs, and 14 INTS, placing him at 3rd for both MVP and OPOY. A true franchise quarterback, he continued to lead his team to the playoffs yet always come up short. SEASON 7 Prior to Lawrence's 7th season, the Steelers failed to add any help for Lawrence. Even with 50 million in cap room, they chose to not sign a single free agent. Also, as is tradition in Pittsburgh by this point, they again missed in the draft. The Steelers began their season at an even 4-4 record. Unfortunately, this mediocrity continued as the Steelers finished with an even 8-8 record. In some cases, this record would be good enough to squeak into the playoffs. However, this 8-8 record finished last in their division. Lawrence continued to put up similar numbers to previous years. Lawrence threw for 4000 yards, 34 TDs, and 11 INTs. While these are not terrible numbers, they did not help by putting him at 10th for MVP and 9th for OPOY. Through this point in his 7 year career, Lawrence has thrown for 28,000 yards, 210 TDs, and 81 INTS. He has also ran for 1300 yards and 13 TDs. He continues to be the face of the Steelers, even when the Steelers wont do anything to help him (immediately made me think of Rodgers). SEASON 8 After 7 seasons in the league, Lawrence has progressed to a top QB in the league. He finally hit the milestone: 99 Overall. While not extremely important, it does highlight the significant improvement that Lawrence has made throughout his career. However, it would not help them during the season. The Steelers once again began their season 4-4, the pinaccle of mediocrity. The Steelers once again finished 8-8, third in their division. Lawrence, who let the achievement of being a part of Madden's 99 Club get to him, suffered in his play. Lawrence continued to have his worst season yet, throwing for only 3300 yards, 24 TDs, and 16 INTs. Coming up on a contract year, it is necessary for him to turn it around before the Steelers consider moving on. SEASON 9 Lawrence began his 9th season with an aging team. Juju was now at 32 years old, along with Jaire also at 32. With such a team, it was necessary for the Steelers to get Lawrence weapons. Unfortunately, this was not the case when it came to free agency, only signing three defensive players and leaving 42 million untouched. Fortunately this was not the case for the draft. The steelers selected a WR and a CB in the first two rounds, looking to finally add starters through the draft. Lawrence, still a 99 XFactor, tried his hardest to push his team to success. However, he could not do it all as the Steelers started their season 3-4. With such starts plaguing their success for years, a desperate change was needed. This caused the Steelers to make a midseason change to their scheme, a move that shocked most on the team. Unfortunately, this change did not bring much success to the face of Pittsburgh football. The Steelers would finish at 6-10, last place in their division. Once again, Lawrence missed the playoffs. Even with the team's struggles, Lawrence was not at fault after thowing for 4000 yards, 33 TDs, and 6 INTs. This production lead the Steelers to even extend Lawrence. Lawrence earned a 7 year deal worth 269 Million dollars. The Steelers even ended the season with the 6th ranked offense in the league. Unfortunately, their 29th ranked defense could not keep up. SEASON 10 After receiving a mega extension, and having the Steelers place a fifth of their total cap in Lawrence, he needed to continue the production that he managed through the rest of his career. However, with a significantly worse OL than the previous seasons, many wondered how Lawrence and Edwards-Helaire would be able to produce. The Steelers would finally help Lawrence on offense, drafting TE Freddie Crayton out of Texasx A&M in the first round. This was the only help that the Steelers sought after in the offseason. This could be a reason as to why the Steelers continued their struggles. They, once again, began their season with a 3-4 record. Fortunately, they were able to turn their struggles around. The Steelers finished their season 8-8, sneaking into the Wild Card. Without Devin Bush and Cordell Ashmore missing from their defense due to injury, many wondered how their 17th ranked defense would match up against the 11-5 Chargers. While their defense gave up 35 points, Lawrence and the offense were able to score 41 points. This pushed the Steelers onto the divisional game against Jacksonville and Justin Fields. Lawrence was once again unlucky, leading the steelers to only 13 points and another playoff exit. SEASON 11 Lawrence's next season did not start off on the right foot with the retirement of long time WR Juju Smith Schuster. Along with their already present struggles, the Steelers lost their franchise WR. On the other hand, the Steelers were able to make a splash in free agency, signing nine players including WR AJ Brown. The Steelers also drafted another WR, adding to Lawrence's weapons. After another successful offseason, the Steelers continued to struggle. Starting yet another season 4-4, many wondered if Lawrence had any blame in the situation. Unfortunately for Lawrence, this seemed to be the case as he struggled by only thowing for 3800 yards, 22 TDs, and 9 INTs. The Steelers would once again finish 8-8, in arguably the msot competitive division in the league. The Bengals and Ravens tied at 9-7, followed by the Steelers and Browns at 8-8. Unfortunately, this record would not give the Steelers another playoff appearance, and another season for Lawrence goes unrewarded. SEASON 12 After 11 seasons in the league in the books, many wondered how much longer Lawrence would be in Pittsburgh, let alone the league. Still at a 99 Overall XFactor, he still had the necessary skills to compete. Realistically, it would be up to Lawrence to decide when he leaves, unless his body chooses for him. The Steelers continued to be stingy in FA, leaving nearly 85 million untouched after FA. With the Steelers front office not giving any support, the Steelers had their worst start yet with a 1-6 record at midseason. The Steelers recovered after their awful start. Finishing at a 7-9 record, they were third in their division. Again, the Steelers would miss the playoffs. Lawrence continued to struggle, throwing for only 3900 yards, 27 TDs, and 11 INTs. This lead the Steelers to the middle of the pack, with the 18th ranked offense. Unfortunately, it seems like Lawrence's body is giving up on him. SEASON 13 After such a disappointing season 12, Lawrence remained as a 99 Overall. However, the Steelers' front office continued to damage their relationship with Lawrence. After signing nobody of value on the offense in either the draft or free agency, Lawrence became increasingly frustrated. Unless the team was willing to compete, Lawrence might be looking for his way out of Pittsburgh. Luckily for the city of pittsburgh, they may not have to worry about Lawrence wanting out. The Steelers began their season 6-2, one of the best starts throughout Lawrence's career. However, the Steelers quicklly collapsed. They lose the next four games, leading them to a 6-6 record. By the end of the season, they finished 7-9 with no playoff birth. Lawrence was fed up. After throwing for 4100 yards and 30 TDs, he proved that he can still compete. After 13 seasons in Pittsburgh, at the age of 34, Lawrence demanded a release and looked to be picked up by another team. OFFSEASON Following 13 seasons in the league, Lawrence entered free agency for the first time in his career. At this point in his career, he mainly had one condition for any teams that offered him: they were on the verge of competing. As he made his way through free agency, he received offers from 6 teams: the Broncos, Colts, Giants, Dolphins, Seahawks, and Jaguars. After careful consideration, looking at the records and rosters of all the teams, including the environments that the teams are in, Lawrence was seemingly confused by a couple offers. The Colts for example, had a 98 OVR QB. The Seahawks also had a 90 OVR XFactor. In both of these cases, with seemingly good situations at QB, their offers were off the table. The Broncos were also off the table with having the worst defense in the league. Lawrence wanted to compete, and this would not be an option in Denver. The same would occur in New York, after having gone 4-12 the prior season. At this point, in Lawrence's mind, the decision is down to two teams: The Dolphins and Jaguars. However, Lawrence isn't sure about going to Jacksonville. With an already established Justin Fields at the helm, Lawrence wasnt looking to compete for a job. As a result, Lawrence decided to sign a 1 year deal with the Miami Dolphins worth 34 Million. Hopefully he can turn it around with a chance to compete in his new home. SEASON 14 With his new time in Miami, this served as a fresh start for Lawrence. As a result, he decided to change his number from #6 to #2. With sudden improvement on offense, with the franchise tackle Penei Sewell protecting him, he already felt better about his time in Miami. The Dolphins started off great, at a 7-1 record. Their offense seemed to be progressing, having the 6th ranked offense at the midseason point. However, their defense fell off a cliff, with the 31st ranked offense at this point. By the end of the season, the Dolphins finished at 11-5, clinching a first round bye for the first time in Lawrence's career. This will make Lawrence's path to the Lombardi that much easier. By the end of the season, however, the dolphins became more average then before. Withthe 17th ranked offense and the 25th ranked defense, the dolphins may struggle further in the postseason. Lawrence did not do as wellas he had hoped. Only throwing for 3900 yards, 26 TDs, and 7 INTS, Lawrence is unsure on if he earned another contract in Miami. Maybe a strong playoff push will convince them as they enter the divisional round against the Chargers. For the first time in Lawrence's career, he advances to the conference championship. He is only one game away from his first Super Bowl Appearance. Unfortunately, Lawrence once again falls short after losing to the Ravens. Many wondered if Lawrence was staying in Miami. SEASON 15 After his first season in Miami, the Dolphins decided to keep Lawrence around for another year. The Miami Dolphins officially placed the franchise tag on Lawrence, worth 36.7 Million. With another year in Miami, Lawrence had to prove himself to earn an extension. Lawrence began his second season in Miami at 6-2. Now, in week 10, he must face the man that has plagued his career: Patrick Mahomes. As like the million other matchups, Mahomes wins. By the end of the season, the Dolphins struggled as they finished 9-7. Fortunately, this lead to a wild card appearance for possibly Lawrence's last time in Miami. During this season, Lawrence threw for over 4100 yards, 27 TDs, and only 8 INTs. With such a year, this lead to Lawrence earning the MVP award for the first time in his career. After a win in the wild card, Lawrence once again must try to conquer Mahomes and the Chiefs on the way to the AFC Championship. Much like every other time, Lawrence came up short. Even after winning the MVP award and leading the Dolphins to two straight playoff appearances, they decide to let Lawrence choose what he wanted to do. OFFSEASON After 15 long and grueling seasons in the NFL, Lawrence decided to hang up his cleats. While he never reached the Super Bowl, he did make many playoff appearances throughout his career. His accomplishments lead him to winning the MVP and OPOY awards once each, both happening in his last season. He also made the pro bowl two times. After 15 long years, here are his stats: 59,834 Yards 426 TDs 141 INTS 3,093 Rushing Yards 31 Rushing TDs This was super fun to do, let me know if you want another! :) [link] [comments]
