    Fixing Franchise Mode

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 07:59 AM PDT

So, as we all know, Madden is an absolutely terrible game. The only reason we buy it is because it is the only available NFL video game. Not only is it bad, it's not even CLOSE to up to par with other sports games such as NBA2k. I recently made a comment remarking on how I have a ton of ideas on how to fix Madden, and it was suggested to me that I make a post. So I decided I'd test the waters with some of my ideas on how to fix one area of the game that truly frustrates me: Franchise mode. Specifically, one aspect of it: coaching. If this post gets some positive feedback, I will work on another post with some more ideas. I could probably fill 100 posts with my ideas so please let me know if you guys enjoy reading this:

Change "Franchise Mode" to a more centralized "Career Mode" with a variety of different careers and career paths. I'll talk only about my ideas on the coach/GM career here, as it is a lot already.

    Coaching Career

    • The Story: Begin your career with a team (you will have to choose based on a variety of factors where you want to coach.) You begin your career as a Quarterbacks or Defensive Backs coach (your choice). You will develop and play exclusively as the quarterback for your Franchise. As this will be boring, you will be quickly promoted to offensive or defensive coordinator. You will control only the offense or defense of your team for 2 seasons until your contract is up. You will be offered a job as Head Coach by a variety of teams. Remain where you started or move to a new team. Depending on success you will eventually earn the job as GM (much like Bill Belichick is the GM and Coach of the Patriots). From there, you will face a variety of paths depending on success, ranging from leading your team to an ultimate dynasty like Bellichick or becoming a failed journeyman coach like Rex Ryan.

Features of Coaching Career: - Ability to customize game plans to include substitutions, in-depth practice and drills, and scripting plays. Adding game film (or at least prepared analysis of game film) for your upcoming opponent - Struggling to maintain a relationship with your rival coaches, your players, the media, your owner, your staff, your bosses, and the teams values. You risk losing control in the locker room, having a negative public image, getting fired, your legacy, and your value on the market for other teams. This will be done through tons of multi-answer "conversations". Locker room speeches before/after games, one-on-ones with your players and staff, press conferences, etc... - Negotiating trades with AI, rather than a blank yes/no interface. Teams will offer trades, offer feedback on your proposals, and build a rapport with you. Trades will take potentially many weeks, rumors may be leaked, and fan responses will be known. All of these will affect all the things I mentioned above. - In-depth drafting. Set your priorities throughout the season. Rather than seeing a big list of vague information about prospects, you will be given a weekly scouting report. Reports will be tailored to precisely what you are looking for, where a list of 20-30 guys will be delivered to you weekly. Choose 10 prospects to "follow." You will be given a daily report on those players updated college stats, potential weaknesses/strengths, media coverage, etc.. - Ability to seamlessly transition between the classic "play mode" and my new "sideline mode" during games. You may play classic madden, calling plays and controlling the players during the game. OR you may switch over to "sideline mode." In sideline mode you will be put into close third-person (or first person) following your coach. You will be able to traverse the sideline to get advice from coordinators (to whom you may give the ability to call plays on your behalf), make substitutions, coach platters mid-game, review recent plays, call timeouts, chat with refs, etc... This could include random events ranging from frustrated players asking you for advice, fans badgering you, or the owner calling down to critique you about your performance. You will have the ability to immediately switch in between modes mid-game with no loading screens.

Smaller features: - Attire customization will include game day hot, game day cold, indoor practice, outdoor practice, press conference, business meeting, and office attire. Accessories like headset, clipboards, and - CPU will learn your personality through tracking conversations and priorities. This will cause changes in your sideline behavior animations and give various boosts to your team mid-game. - Commentators will remark on your career during games - Home-field advantage will actually MATTER - Winning/losing streaks will actually matter - Success provides lasting in-game benefits throughout your career. A potential team looking to hire you may remember how that backup quarterback you developed during the early months of your career went on to start in a few playoff games. - Mode will go for 40 seasons.

I truly hope you guises enjoyed reading this. I have ideas for 4 additional franchise modes, as well as core gameplay, connected franchise, difficulties, "my player" type mode, and a long-ass rant about MUT. If this post gets some positive feedback I will 100% come out with a second part. Thanks for reading, and let me know what you think!

“The file cannot be downloaded because it has been removed by its owner”

Whenever I try to download a draft class or something for my franchise it says this when it's obviously not true at all since it's on the front page with thousands of downloads, anyone know why it's doing this?

    Better late than never

I swear I’m going crazy. It feels like my quarterback is trying to throw to the defense and my receivers Just happen to catch it sometimes. Like the roles are reversed?

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 05:31 PM PDT

I'm throwing perfect balls to a wide-open receiver in the ball just go straight to the defender. I honestly don't get it? Like the only way these defenders could catch the ball is if the quarterback was throwing it to them on purpose it's infuriating.

    Trading for Draft Picks

    Posted: 04 Apr 2020 02:34 AM PDT

Hello all, Rookie Madden player here - just got a quick question. Whenever I'm watching rebuilds on YouTube, the person always lets certain players (such as Winston at Bucs now they have Brady) go to FA. Would it not be worth trading him for draft picks? Same goes for any player that you don't want resigning. Cheers

Best players from Head Coach 06

    Posted: 03 Apr 2020 06:47 PM PDT

Some friends were having an argument about who the best player on the old head coach 06 was that wasn't a real person. Wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this. The best player I ever had was RB Cameron Miles.
