Madden Franchise literally hasn't changed in over 6 years

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:07 PM PDT

I was looking through this old post for some fun franchise ideas and I thought everything was completely normal. It sounded like it was posted on Madden 20. Then I look at the dates and realize that I couldn't tell the difference between people talking Madden 20 Franchise, and Madden Franchise from 6 years ago.

    Franchise Scouting Rework

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 06:03 PM PDT

Ok, Imma start off by saying scouting is too easy in madden. Finding busts and gem players just takes 3 taps and only 21 or 30 points out of 150 or 200 scouting points a week. So when EA announced that they are gonna bring better career stat UI, Coaching staff and management, and scouting improvements through madden 21 and 22 I feel this a great opportunity for me to say what I think would make a great in-depth scouting experience. The scouting menu that pops up week to week should look more like the roster page under my team. In this new scouting menu you will be able to look at graduating and players that declared for the draft. You will be able to look a players by position, school, and predicted round they will be drafted. After going through this new menu and finding a player you are interested in you tap on them and a screen will pop up showing you player information. Information you will be able to see about players include, if and when they transferred, accolades they have achieved, their stats in college, and previous or current injuries. After going through the process of looking at all this you will be able to send out a scout that will run a report on the player and give the report to your head scout. The head scout will then give you the scouting report and the tell you where he thinks the player should be picked in the draft. You will only be able to scout 5 players a week. Scouts are not perfect but the way for your scouting team to get better is to have your head scout level up. If your head scout is the lowest overall scouting reports will be 60% accurate but once your head scout reaches the max overall scouting reports will be 90% accurate.

This is what they should do if they rework scouting.

Ways to make Madden offline franchise more immersive (shame we have to do this at all honestly)

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 01:51 PM PDT

Sadly Madden's franchise mode blows for the most part. I've never really played any single franchise for more than 4-5 years until recently and I've realized a big reason for that is woeful lack of history in Madden. It's like each new year starts from a brand new slate and records of the previous year are wiped clean. There's no dedicated space to see previous year's award winners, SB winners, stats from previous years, draft picks etc. It makes each subsequent years feel like replaying the same level in a RPG. The game just feels shallow. So to make it a bit less shallow on my latest franchise I've created a OneNote book for the franchise, and I do some basic writeups during the season, a decently sized writeup at the end of the season and have a page for summaries of big events for my team year-by-year. It sucks that I have to do this manually outside the game but it really helps in making my franchise seem like more cohesive. At a glance I can see my best/worst moments from previous years, see my draft gems that are big contributors now etc.

Second thing I'm doing is for big moves I make up a narrative/scenario to go with it, sort of like a D&D campaign where I'm the DM. For example in year 7 of my franchise right now, I drafted a QB in the 3rd last year with 95 speed (generated draft class), so I made up a scenario where Daniel Jones pulls an Andrew Luck and retires after a season ending injury to focus on his rollerblading career. I'm trading away my superstar DT after 2nd year because I don't like his playstyle too much, so he's pulling a Jamal Adams. Stuff like that for big moves keep the franchise fresh in my opinion. I'll give nicknames to my favorite players, write random news snippets about my favorite/ least favorite players etc.

Another small and simple thing is I have a list of my under-appreciated but favorite players from the past. These are basically guys I usually drafted late, never became stars but they played well for me. It always used to feel bad letting these guys go in FA and they're basically wiped from history once a few years go by.

This is probably the most amount of effort I'm willing to put in. I'm sure there's a lot more comprehensive things other people are doing to make it even more in depth. For me I like that it's not a ton of work. I just write snippets during the season, do one big writeup at the end of the season and do some narrative/news snippets during the off-season for moves I make. This is what it basically looks like, I'll have some seasons a lot more detailed than others depending on how much effort I feel like putting in:

    Question about players retiring

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 11:05 PM PDT

So I've seen here that if you edit a player's age before the offseason you can prevent them from retiring. I had a few players who were aging and I didn't want them to retire so I edited their ages to 20 years old right after the super bowl and moved onto the offseason. I checked to see which players retired and all of the players I edited to age 20 retired. What did I do wrong here? Does this not work anymore or something? I'm playing Madden 19 btw.

[PS4] TSFL is now recruiting a handful of spots for Madden 21 CFM

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 12:12 PM PDT

Been running this league since Madden 15

**What:*\* PS4 Madden 21 Connected Franchise Mode League (32 active owners running their team and player development, fighting it out for the Superbowl)

**Requirements:*\* Must be a mature adult (18+) that has enough time in their schedule to be active in our league. You must also accept the rules of our league, which can be found in our Discord server, click the following to join, TSFL Discord Server

**When:*\* Join TODAY We will be doing the team selection this week!

**Who:*\* We have about 5 spots open

**How often would I play a game?*\* We advance through an NFL week every 72 hours at the latest. That means you would play 1 game every 3 days, but we aim for 48 hour advance periods and leave that last day for any last minute changes people may have had.

**Why Join?*\* If you are looking to improve your skills, play competitively, or just experiencing Madden in a whole new way with a great group of people. We like to have our fun and smack talk but at the same time we all respect each other and know at the end of the day, it's just a game we are all here to enjoy together.

    * Great group of guys that play SIM STYLE football (how it's played on Sundays) and are mature adults. We run a pretty tight ship and have a good set of rules in place that everyone has agreed to and abides by.

(Rulebook) can be found here, that is what we used for Madden 19 and will stay pretty similar to that set

    * Aside from that we are very easy going and often amuse each other in the Discord chat (REQUIRED) that we use to communicate between the other players to schedule games, talk trades, etc.

    Why is Madden so trash?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 10:18 PM PDT

I use the Packers in Exhibition (Play Now) vs my friends, on Competitive.

First of all, the fact that Davante Adams doesn't have an X-Factor is RIDICULOUS.

Second of all, how can Adams never ever catch a contested streak against one man, or ever burn his man...BUT random no name players like Kumerow, or Lazard, will Randy Moss catches.

On top of this, Aaron Rodgers can't seem to make those same "Bread-in-the-basket" throws he makes in real life, in the video game. The ball is never perfectly placed where only the receiver can get it, no matter how much I try with the left stick. It always ends up being either complete or incomplete aggressively, only because one animation out powered the other which led the weaker one to not even do anything. They just watch while the other either catches it or causes an incompletion/INT.

Lastly, why does it seem like Madden switches momentum. The 1st half my team will have many plays like my second point, and the opponent won't be able to catch anything. In the second half, the roles are reversed. Why? Is this just me, or is there something to this?

    Post-Franchise Update Sentiment?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2020 04:20 PM PDT

Now that Sean Graddy has given us an update as far as how they're going to approach franchise this year and next year, how are you guys feeling? Did this meet your expectations?

IMO I'm pleased that they're taking a step in the right direction and acknowledging that franchise is subpar, however, I still feel underwhelmed. The part about features they're "not fully committed to" and "exploring" was off-putting bc it feels like an excuse for them to not do one or more of those things next year. Also, just the fact that those features are not coming until NEXT YEAR is annoying. Buying 21 is slightly more justifiable but still difficult considering that the big changes might come next year. We need to keep this energy and hold them accountable for the next year so that they follow through and actually innovate.
